Pop Montreal celebrates 10th anniversary

Today, the Webster Media Consulting team heads to Pop Montreal for a weekend of great music in a wonderful city. This evening will be a celebration of the festival’s 10th anniversary, and we’re pleased that our clients Karkwa and Arcade Fire are on the bill for the massive free outdoor show this evening at the Place des Festivals. Both these talented bands are heralded as some of the best the city has produced, and we’re proud to have played a piece in the puzzle with their most recent releases (Les Chemins de Verre and The Suburbs, respectively) and even more excited to hear them play live. It seems fitting that the show is taking place in the Place des Festivals – the new heart of the creative city, which tonight will no doubt be teeming with love and passion. Fanaticism at its best.

Also worth noting that Pop Montreal provides a huge jump-off point for many up and coming bands, including one of our newest clients – Adam & The Amethysts. Hour Community put them on the cover for this week, so we hope that crowds will come in droves to hear their new tunes off their upcoming release Flickering Flashlight which releases on Ottawa’s well-respected Kelp Records on October 4, 2011.

Our punk heroes Fucked Up play a late night Thursday set as well, so we’re going to be wearing our comfortable shoes for the evening. Lead singer Damian Abraham just finished up co-hosting Monday’s Polaris Music Prize and we loved seeing him clean up well in a suit for the occasion. Toronto fans can see them contribute to the all-night Nirvana tribute evening for Nuit Blanche this Saturday.

If you want to find us Friday I’ll probably be salivating at the Tuneyards show, or at Jean Leloup’s set – we are a huge fan of both, and pleased that Pop is presenting so much variety. Montreal does such a great job in cultivating great music and we’re happy to rub shoulders with so many talents in one weekend!

Vive la musique!! Vive Montreal!!
