New album Let’s be ready. out September 2
Cross-Canada tour begins September 12

TORONTO – The Wooden Sky’s 4th album Let’s be ready. will be available on September 2, 2014 and is the first release on the band’s own label, Chelsea Records. On Monday, Exclaim! premiered the first single, “Saturday Night”.

Let’s be ready. was conceived amidst many changes: evolving friendships, lost loves and death. The process of putting the pieces back together was aided by the talent and brawn of long-time friend and producer, Chris Stringer. Together they reworked the songs to capture the band’s renowned live energy. Frontman Gavin Gardiner tells Exclaim!, “In order to do that we made some pretty detailed demos in our studio and then went out and played the songs live […]Quickly things that weren’t important fell by the wayside, and we came back with something much leaner, meaner and raw.”

The result is an album best listened to with the pedal to the metal, the windows down and the volume up. The ten songs are postcards from the places they’ve been; an abandoned airstrip in Berlin, Ritchie Valens’ hometown of San Fernando Valley, the Quebec countryside, the side of the I-5 in Los Angeles and the cluttered van floor as it barrels through Northern Ontario.

“Within the band, we talk often of how ugly the world can be and our responsibility to make something beautiful. And when it comes down to being on tour and playing shows, we’re only in your town for the night so we figure let’s make it a night to remember. That’s where our album title “Let’s be ready” comes from, that need to embrace life and all that you’ve built within it” explains Gardiner.

This fall, The Wooden Sky embark on an extensive cross-Canada tour including two back-to-back nights at Lee’s Palace in Toronto. Full tour details available below.

Let’s be ready. is now available for pre-order on A deluxe version is also available exclusively on and includes one live track and four demo versions of songs off the new record. “You fall in love with the rawness of your original demo and the magic that comes from having nothing to lose; that cracked vocal delivery or out of tune wailing in the background. More than just songs in their infancy, these demos hold something special in them, a snapshot of this music through another lens.”
