We’re very excited about the following Webster Media Consulting clients who, today, received Juno nominations for their exceptional musical work. They rounded up 11 nominations this year! Congratulations!


Arcade Fire

Karkwa

Album: Les chemins de verre
City: Montreal
Nominations: (2) Alternative Album of the Year & Francophone Album of the Year

The 2010 Polaris Prize winners have garnered many awards, but these are their first Juno nominations! They have been playing together for over 12 years and have received 10 Felix awards at the Adisq galas in Quebec. This is their fourth album. Les chemins de verre (which translates roughly to mean The Glass pathways in English) is being released in Europe later on this year. Touring is ongoing in Canada this February and March. Karkwa are Louis-Jean Cormier, Francois Lafontaine, Stephane Bergeron, Martin Lamontagne and Julien Sagot.

Bobby Bazini

Album: Better in Time
Mont-Laurier/Montreal
Nominations: (2) Pop Album of the Year & New Artist of the Year

At 21, on his debut album, Bobby Bazini has already proved his sound is connecting with people. In 2010, his album sold 80 000 copies, certifying Platinum record sales. (Drake was the only other artist in Canada to do this on a debut record in 2010.) Rolling Stone France wrote up a two page feature on him, and radio across the country is taking notice. Bobby Bazini plays Canada AM tomorrow morning and CBC Radio Q this coming Friday.

Laila Biali

Album: Tracing Light
City: North Vancouver/Toronto/Brooklyn
Nomination: Vocal Jazz Album of the Year

Pianist, singer, composer, Laila Biali is originally from North Vancouver. A graduate of Humber Jazz in Toronto, she recently moved to Brooklyn, New York. She sang and recorded the If On a Winter’s Night DVD with Sting in December 2009. She’s toured with Paula Cole, Chris Botti and Suzanne Vega, and opened for Diana Krall at the Vancouver Jazz Festival. A summer festival tour is planned this year in Canada. This is her first Juno nomination.
